hungry hungry hippos

i watched donnie darko for the 2nd time today and it's so much better after some understanding of the plot. for those who haven't watched it, it's a sci-fi thriller with teenage drama and some mystery and a whole lotta other shit jumbled up into 110 minutes of good fun. i highly recommend it. so go out, get the movie, watch it, go to the website, search the forums, then watch it again, and come tell me what you think.

and to anyone who has watched it before, do you mind helping me answer one question? what was the purpose of cherita? there were so many major scenes with her in it but i just gon't get it. like the scene where donnie talks to her and she just runs and drops her books. or the one where karen, the english teacher is screaming in the field and then finds cherita sitting there and just looks at her. what's the meaning of all that?

the best thing about this movie is that it's what you like it to be and it was made to be that way. the music is also amazing. i think the reason i like it so much is 'cos alot of it is on piano. i'm a sucker for songs with a piano. i also think that jake gyllenhaal has the cheekiest, perviest grin.

[hungry hungry hippos is what donnie's parents didn't get him for christmas. play it.]

[p.s. one more question about the movie, why does donnie laugh at the end? He says "I hope that when the world comes to an end, I can breathe a sigh of relief, because there will be so much to look forward to" but i don't see what he looks forward to. ]
